About the Utica Cadet Squadron

DSC09293aCivil Air Patrol is the volunteer civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. You do not have to be a pilot, be involved in aviation, or have any military experience to join. The cadet program is open to boys and girls ages 12 – 18. CAP offers a wide variety of opportunities and experiences. It is a great way to become involved in public service, learn technical and leadership skills, meet new friends, and just do lots of neat stuff!

We would love for you join us as a cadet or senior member.

The 162nd Utica Cadet Squadron meets every Tuesday from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. During the months of July and August our meeting runs until 9:00 pm unless otherwise stated. Our meetings are located at:

Immanuel Baptist Church
9501 Weston Rd
New Hartford, NY 13413-3790

We are in no way affiliated with the church but they are kind enough to provide us space for our offices and meetings. If you are interested in joining our squadron please arrive at approximately 6:15 so we can show you around. Our squadron requires that prospective cadets attend three meetings prior to providing the paperwork. This ensures that you have a good idea of what to expect from both our squadron and programs.  You can also view our Welcome Packet for information on the squadron, it’s leadership and the membership fees.

While not required; parents of prospective cadets are welcome to attend the three orientation meetings. Senior members of the squadron will be happy to explain our goals, mission and vision and to answer any questions you have. If you have questions you would like answered before you attend a meeting please email us.

You can also view the Civil Air Patrol FAQ’s for Parent’s page for more information.  If your prospective cadet has attended three meetings and is interesting in joining our unit please complete the Cadet Membership Application and have your child bring the completed forms and required checks to the next meeting.  If you are interested in becoming a Senior Member please complete the Senior Membership Application.  We’ll give you a fingerprint card to have completed by your local law enforcement agency.  Once the fingerprint card is returned we can mail your application, card and check in for your senior membership.  Please make sure you have completed the form completely.
